In the absence of the enzyme of interest, the soluble off-probes are completely silent, they do not emit any detectable background signal.

The probe’s conversion by the target enzyme results in the release of a bright green and extremely photostable fluorescence retained in the cell.

SmartID™ Green Probes detect the activity of a wide variety of enzymes, in living cells, extract of living cells, biological fluids or biopsy samples, in vitro and in vivo, without requiring any preprocessing of samples through concentration, centrifugation, or filtration and without addition of secondary reagents.

A cyclizing, molecular spacer is at the heart of our three-component and four-component probes that report on specific enzyme activity in live cells. Our spacer harnesses the unique properties of the solid-state fluorophore ELF® 97-alcohol for persistent tagging of the cell.
